[26/01/2007 - Stay Tuned for the Web-Connected Home] "The first phase was basic PC networking in the home. The next phase, the one we are just now entering, is more entertainment-oriented. The subsequent phase will be home automation", said Charles Golvin, principal analyst at Forrester Research. With home automation, dumb machines -- from laundry appliances to lawn sprinklers -- get in on the act.

[26/01/2007 - Lack of space may force world wide web to implode] Massive demands being placed on the internet could soon see the network run out of web addresses, technology experts said yesterday.
Although Internet Protocol 4 (IP4), which allows the network to operate, has scope for 4.3 billion web addresses, that was not sufficient to meet demand, said Vinton Cerf, the chairman of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), which governs the net.

[18/01/2007 - Hot Topics for the New Year] Politics, must-have technologies, and major new contracts are front and center in2007. Permeating these issues is the continuing war in Iraq and Afghanistan. Contractors have plenty to juggle, both in positioning their companies for long-term growth and in helping agencies meet short term goals.
From car dashboards to soldiers’ helmets, nearly everything is going to have an IP address in the not so distant future. The need for virtually infinite IP addresses is the biggest driver behind IP Version 6.

[18/01/2007 - IPv6 offers data packet security and quality of service – but so does IPv4] One frequently claimed benefit of IPv6 is that it is inherently superior to IPv4 in two areas: quality of service and security. Although true enough when comparing the basic IPv4 protocol to IPv6, the picture this paints is very far from complete.
